Full Moon Party with Blonde and Kérastase

Nothing feels as good as great hair. You walk taller, you smile brighter and feel that more confident. It is a process though to get to that great hair, and it always starts with a great salon. I was introduced to Blonde Salon in Toronto in the Fall of 2014 and have never looked. I am particular when it comes to my hair, especially because I am a natural blond and have had couple hair colouring mishaps in my time. Colouring blond hair is truly an art that can easily go wrong, too brassy, too dull, or too damaging. The team at Blonde really understands hair and make a point of understanding you. I have recommended them countless times and have had both my sister(who is hard to impress) and my friends impressed.

Blonde is unique in so many ways, their dedication to ongoing education in the latest products and trends, their authentic connections made with clients and their fearless, innovative leader Stacey Staley. Stacey started Blonde in 2006 and has been building a brand and reputation in the city for her unique salon experience with a team that delivers great hair. One of the many fun things Blonde does, is host a semi annual Blonde Bash; a party with drinks, amazing food, hair treatments and prizes. I have attended Blonde Bashs in the past and am disappointed when I can’t go as they really are something to look forward to, pizza and blow outs come on?!?

This past week though Blonde was hosting a whole new type of party, a Full Moon Party. Always inspired and listening to their clients, founder Stacey became aware that some her clients were getting their hair cut sporadically. Interested, Stacey wondered why and found out that her clients were getting their hair cut on the lunar cycle to promote growth. Stacey did her research and found out that this practice was not unique to her clients but something that many people do and she herself decided to give it a try. Cutting her hair on the full moon in conjunction with using Kérastase’s Initialiste Advanced Scalp and Hair Concentrate, Stacey noticed impressive results and wanted to share her positive experience with more clients by hosting a Full Moon Party.

I was intrigued right away when I received the invitation. An intimate evening of wine, tapas, tarot cards and haircuts; I was in. I recently decided to grow my hair long again and I am undergoing the dreaded “bang grow out” at the moment so any way to get my hair grow faster-I’m in. When I arrived I was immediately impressed and enthralled by the good vibes of the salon. Blonde is already a gorgeous space but for the evening it was transformed, the lights were dimmed with spotlights on the treatment area and salon chairs, there were crystals emitting a gorgeous glow on the tarot readings and a table filled with delicious charcuterie, desserts and three amazing prizes to be won through the evening from Veuve Cliquot, Hermes and Jo Malone. This evening was sure to be fun, reflective and all made that much better with amazing hair.

I had arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time and was soaking everything in while enjoying some cheese and crackers. I watched as the women who filled the salon, smiled and laughed enjoying the evening together. That may be one of my favourite things about Blonde, somehow Stacey has made it more than a salon experience but a community one, a feeling amplified at the Full Moon party. The first raffle took place and the prize winner gleefully snapped a picture of herself with her bottle of Veuve.

It was my turn and I went to the hair washing station. Stacey started my treatment as my stylist Karissa was just wrapping up with her client, Stacey went through the treatment process with me. Starting with the unique Kérastase Fusio Dose treatment, each client would get a customized treatment to address their hair needs-mine were dryness and volume so we used the Nourishment Concentré Oleo Fusion and Body Density Builder-followed by a shampoo and conditioner and the Initialiste Advanced Scalp and Hair Treatment. I cannot recommend the Kérastase Fusio Dose treatments enough. I have had them before and with my ever-changing hair needs they have been crucial in ensuring optimal hair health and ultimately achieving my hair goals.

I was unfamiliar with the Initialiste Advanced Scalp and Hair Treatment and Stacey and Karissa both raved to me about how it was one of the most underrated hair products out their, like a hidden gem. Karissa told me to apply it minimum twice a week, she said that she had clients that after their first bottle fell in love and they quickly rushed in for their second bottle, not wanting to stop using it. Karissa and I started to talk about my hair and where I wanted to see it go with growing it out when the second raffle took place, the second prize winner excitedly squealed when she held the orange Hermes bag with her prize inside. Karissa and I went ahead and she trimmed my hair, showed me a new way of styling it and finished it all off with another amazing blow out.

With my hair done and a new confident stride in my step there was only one last thing to do, have a tarot reading. I have never had a tarot reading and felt slightly apprehensive. Karissa reassured me, telling me that it wasn't like a psychic and that I would probably enjoy it. Tarot reader Patricia Allison, was incredibly helpful in making me feel comfortable, explaining how she herself got into tarot readings, how she got her first deck and how the act of tarot readings is more a practice of reflection in one’s own life more than anything else. Good vibes must have been flowing because half way through my reading their third and final draw was held for the Jo Malone prize and I won! A beautiful home infuser that I cannot wait to start using.

With my hair done, my taste buds satiated and my cards drawn and read my time at the Full Moon party was coming to an end. I had had such a lovely evening that I was sad to see it close. Stacey has created another game changing experience in her salon, I felt a serenity and bliss that is not commonly felt in a salon no matter how good your cut was. As I was bidding farewell and already looking forward to the next Full Moon Party I was given a Blonde Full Moon Party gift bag filled with luxury products sold at Blonde.

I can’t wait to begin my new hair regimen, incorporating Kérastase Initialiste alongside my other favourite Kérastase products. With hair needs changing with the seasons and styles I find that I am always tweaking my regimen here and there. One of the ways that I do this is by using the Kérastase Diagnostic Tool that I have shared before here, right now I am using the Kérastase Resistance Volumifique line, from the Bain to the Gelée, spray and mousse, this line allows my fine hair to achieve feather light volume.
