Summer Reading List

I was an odd child growing up. I loved to read. Really LOVED to read to the point that when most children were running around in joy I was in my bibliobliss, entranced in whichever world I was in then. My younger sister Emma likes to tell people that when we were younger spending our Summers at the family cottage, she would ask me to play and I would be under a beach umbrella, nose in a book and reply with "I don't want skin cancer," and go back to my book. Even then I was looking our for my pale skin.
I read everything. Fiction, non fiction, literature, pulp-or how I like to call it, junk food for the brain. I love how I can go anywhere, be anyone or learn more about whatever I a obsessing about at the time. When Emma was aking me to play I was obsessed with Nancy Drew the girl detective. I still love Nancy Drew, the stories and the memories of collecting them over the years from flea markets and second hand bookshops, to this my collection is one of my dearest possesions.
You may find me rereading a Nancy Drew from time to time out of nostalgia but I continue to explore the literary world in search for my latest gem. This Summer I have already found some delights that I would like to share with you and I would love to hear back from you, about what you think. I think it's fun to see how differently people can see the same novel, how we transpose ourselves onto the page. I will be sharing a book recommendation every week for the month of August, check back on Mondays for a variety of reads from week to week. Who knows, maybe this will lead to a Blond Champagne Book Club? Enjoy!
