Marilyn:Forever Blonde

Last evening I attended a performace of Marilyn:Forever Blonde starring the talented Sunny Thompson at the Wintergraden Theatre in Toronto. Forever Blonde is the telling of Marilyn Monroe's life through her own words along with some of the most memorable songs of her career.

Since I can remember I have been captivated by Marilyn Monroe. To me, she has always epitomised glamour and the romanticism that old Hollywood offers. As I got older and I discovered more about the woman behind the myth, I realised how truly tragic her life was behind all of the glamour. Being the icon Marilyn Monroe destroyed the woman Norma Jean Baker. There will never be another Marilyn Monroe and I feel that learning her story behind the iconic images is one of the best ways to pay tribute to her for all she gave us.

The Wintergarden Theatre is a truly remarkable venue. It was perfectly fitting for the show as it echoes old glamour and class. The theatre is nestled in downtown Toronto and has been around since the early 20th century. With a marble staircase, brass elevators and a theatre that feels like you are in a romantic grove, it is a must for anyone. As we were usherd to our seats and sat in awe of the theatre itself, there are small lanterns and beautiful murals with what feels like leaves of trees hanging from the ceiling, Frank Sinatra played and set the tone for the performance to begin.

If you are looking for something to do this Valentine's day or evening, or are looking to extend the romance until tomorrow you can still catch this wonderful show, Sunny Thompson as Marilyn is not to be missed. If it's with your loved one, Marilyn approves of male companions, or with your closest girls, it seems Marilyn was in desperate need of them, Marilyn:Forever Blonde comes highly recommended by The Blond Champagne.
