Growing up in Canada, I am familliar with the cold, but last week it was annouced that our temperatures dropped lower than those of Mars. Colder than a planet that cannot sustain human life, so needless to say- I need to bundle up and get warm before I can go out to conquer the world. Sadly, outerwear tends to be an afterthought when outfit planning and our fashionable outerwear and our needed, warmer outerwear are not on of the same. #CanadianFashionGirlProblems

Here enters Freed & Freed, a 4th generation Canadian company based out of Winnipeg Manitoba. If anyone knows how to dress for the cold it's someone from Winnipeg-home of the coldest street corner in the world. Freed & Freed is a company with a rich Canadian heritage. The company was started by current designer and owner Marissa Freed's Great Grandfather and has built a reputation of quality and style-two things you need when it's colder than Mars and don't need a jacket hijacking your fashion game.

The jackets are named after Canadian cities (hometown pride) and are beautiful from the inside out. Inspired in part form their menswear history, Freed & Freed jackets have small details, such as interior pockets and strong fabrics that give them a classic style and will ensure you stand out from the crowd. I love the juxstaposition of the menswear fabrics with feminine colours and cuts. I love fur detailing and the glamour it adds, on the Vancouver the beautiful fur on the sleeves is unexpected but nothing short of stunning. These jackets are true investment pieces and offer both fashion and function. I may not be enthused by the temperature outisde but with a jacket like this, there may be a spring in my step as I set out on my way.
