We can't resist a Mean Girls reference and we can't resist a good book either. With the upcoming holiday season sometimes you find yourself at a loss as to what to get your girlfriends. I love giving and receiving books as gifts, and to sound like your grade school teacher "they're the gift of knowledge". And in a hectic time they can be a sweet escape just for yourself.

This is our recommendations of sweet reads that are sure to be a hit with any special lady in your life:

We have already shared our review with this bestselling novel and as much as it's a guide for any girl looking to be an entrepreneur #GIRLBOSS it's an excellent book about growing up as a young woman in this crazy world. Sophia Amoruso is a strong independent woman who met struggle head on and instead of letting it define her she created her own world, NastyGal, and we all bought in. This one is highly recommended for your creative, entrepreneurial spirited pal-you know the one that when you go out scores you the best deals and gives you some of the best memories.

Alexa Chung-one of those Brits who have epitomised cool. Just as comfortable sitting with Anna Wintour front row as she is dancing the night away in an underground club to an unkonwn indie band, Alexa Chung is "It". "It" is not so much a guide as it is a musing by Chung of what she likes with tidbits of her fashion and beauty advice. This book is for that friend that you would not dare enter a vintage store without! You may not always understand her fashion quirks at the time but chances are you'll be wearing it some point later on.

Not That Kind of Girl

The debut memoir from it girl Lena Dunham has been taking the literary world and beyond by storm! For any fans of her hit show "Girls" this is a must. Dunham's book is strikingly honest and will bring out a wide range of emotions when you read it. There are cringe worthy moments, laughter and lessons that you know if you have not already learnt them you will one day. This book is for that friend who is always on top of current events and has been calling herself a feminist loooooong before Lagerfeld sent it down the runway!
