This season it seems that more so than ever, developing new talent is a focus of the entire Candian fashion industry. As exciting as it is that developing talent is getting the well deserved attention it has long been waiting for, it is important to recognize the pioneers who have been supporting new talent for quite some time.

The Toronto Fashion Incubator is a not-for-profit organization, founded in 1987 and was the first of it's kind around the world, now fashion incubators can be found in Paris, New York, London, Milan and beyond. Found in the Canadina Exhibition place in a 8000 sq. ft. historical building, the TFI is dedicated to support, mentorship, education, networking and more for entrepreneurs of all kinds in the Canadian fashion industry. In cold hard numbers: 500 members across the country, 7.5 million website visitors, 300,000 industry influencers and 18, 000 jobs since it's founding. To top all of this off the TFI is headed by one of the most knowledgeable and gracious women in Fashion, Susan Langdon.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the TFI Press and Buyers Brunch this season. It was a glimpse and still a showcase of what the TFI does for the fashion industry. Connecting designers in menswear, womenswear, accessories and, shoes with influencers, the media and buyers. The brunch allows for meaningful networking where designers are able to discuss their collections in depth and the media are able to ask questions-something that you cannot do with a runway collection.
Here are some of my highlights from this year's TFI Press and Buyer's lunch:
