Minnie Mouse. No introduction is needed for the animated icon. Minnie Mouse is one of the most recognizable characters around the world and thsi year at WMCFW she was the guest of honour.
Minnie has her distinct style and over the years there has been slight tweaking but it has always be recognizably Minnie. This year the Mercedes Benz Start Up finalists were all given the challenge to design a Minnie outfit that would be Mouse approved but still in the designer's signature style.

The Minnie Style event was an exclusive event of fashion lovers all discovering their Disney side. From champagne to delicious hors d'oeuvres from the Ritz Carlton it was a delightfully fun event that brought out the inner child in all while still expressing a love of fashion. Accompanying Minnie were the fabulous Beckerman twins, Cailliane and Samantha. I highly suggest you checkout The Beckerman Blog and checkout Minnie and the twins adventure in Toronto.
The designs were impeccable! Each designer made beautiful garments that were filled with Minnie whimsy but were very representative of their own style and would not have felt out of place in any of their collections.

How fun is this from Vaiken? A play on Minnie's traditional red and white polka dot skirt and her blinged out ears. Truly a modern even futuristic play on Minnie Style.

Now this Minnie inspired dress from Blak I could easily be worn on warm Florida day exploring the Magic Kingdom-oh how I want to return to the happiest place on Earth-add one of those iconic Mouse Ear caps and you are set!

Designer Eliza Faulkner created a Minnie Style dress that easily fit into her collection. The bohemian style dress with the exquisite headpiece would be a beautiful addition to any girl's Spring/Summer wardrobe.

This eye catching red dress from Beaufille capture's Minnie's flirtatious and playful side. This interpretation, of the six, was the best at capturing Minnie's personality. As you see form the picture everyone was mesmerised and had to get a snap of it.

I cannot get enough of head wear! And leave it to one of my favourite's, Laura Siegel, to give her interpretation of Minnie Style the vintage 70s flare that I adore so much. The maxi dress was refreshing in contrast to the shorter designs and the whimsical star print was still very Minnie without being overt.

Sid Neigum. Quickly becoming the face of the next generation of Canadian Fashion, Sid Neigum took Minnie Style to whole other level. Here is the dress form afar, still architectural, obviously laser cut, but wait....

Look closely, this dress is composed of hundreds of Mouse heads that interlock to make the dress. This is the intellectual level that Sid Neigum brings to fashion, beyond what is expected.
Before the end of the night Sid NEigum would be crowned the winner of te competition. As much as winning is prized, I truly felt as though the designers had fun taking part in this competition. Throughout the affair they were standing alongside their designs and would engage in discussion about their creaions as well as the shared love of Disney we all seem to have.
