Backpacks, Baths and Bars

My time in Sweden came to an end faster than I could have possibly imagined. One day I was unpacking my belongings and nervously tasting my first bite of the famous Swedish herring, and the next I’m hugging my dear new friends goodbye, desperately fighting back tears in the rush of the airport. My summer in Scandinavia brought with it many memories and lessons, and most importantly taught me that Absolut vodka does actually taste better in its country of origin.

Fortunately enough, with sad endings comes brilliant new beginnings, which happened to take place in the heart of Budapest, Hungary. In a city that perfectly combines a Parisian flare with its own unique vibes, there are three things you will find that will make your stay truly memorable. At the top of the list we have the bars. The nightlife in Budapest is among the best with old ruinpubs to take you back in time while sipping on your cocktail of choice. Voted the third best bar in the world, check out Szimpla kert for the real deal if you’re ever in town. Next on the list are the baths. Budapest is famous for the natural thermal baths located around the city. After a long night in the bars of Budapest, these baths are definitely the place to be. Warm water, cold water, jet massages or not, regardless of what you choose you’ll be feeling ready to take on the night after an afternoon of sheer relaxation. My recommendation, the Széchenyi Baths. Although crowded at times, you can’t go wrong. Last on the list, we have the booze. Cheap, cheap, cheap is all I have to say (especially the wine) so drink up my friends!

Next on my journey, I’ll be taking on Prague. Stay tuned!
