Beauty Bubbles: Hair Transformation

I have a confession to make, I was a hair washing addict. I was washing my hair everyday because I felt that there was no other way to keep my thick hair fresh. After years of this behaviour of over excessive washing, drying, styling my hair was starting to look far from fresh.

Unfortunately my health started having negative effects on my hair and in combination with my bad hair habits I knew I needed to change what I was doing. I want to share some of the tips I have from hair experts and friends that anyone can do no matter what hair products you use.

Firstly, brush before you go in the shower. This I actually picked up from my sister, she has quite the mane, brushing your hair before the shower makes it a lot easier to work the shampoo in later.

Adjust your shampoo and conditioner use! This I learnt from a hairdresser, put your hair in a ponytail and using your thumb and index finger wrap a circle around your ponytail's circumfrence. That's how much product you need!

Now that you know how much you need to use it's finally time to wash your hair. Another amazing tip I learnt from a hair dresser was to shampoo twice, "First time gets build up out, second time will actually lather and clean," use the same amount both times. When it comes time to condition don't condition all the way to your roots but to an inch or two from your scalp. When I was first told this it seemed odd but when explained to me it made comeplete sense. The hair closest to your scalp is the newest and therefore usually the healthiest and doesn't need the conditioner. Conditioning at your roots can even lead to unneccessary build up and the appearance of greasey hair.

Finally, before you get out of your warm spa like shower rinse your hair with cooler water. Think I'm crazy? Listen to the reasoning, your hair is comprised of tiny hair follicles like your skin is comprised of millions tiny little pores. The warm water causes your hair follicles to open just like your pores, which is fantastic for cleaning and conditioning but when you get out of the shower and dry your hair with a towel followed by brushing it out your open hair follicles will be susceptible to dammage and this can lead to more split ends and frizzies. I had been told this multiple times by hair dressers but chose to ignore it preferring my warm shower bliss. However my hair dresser begged me to do it and promised me the water didn't have to be ice cold but just a bit cooler than it was and I would notice a big difference. Lesson learned, out of all these tips this has been a game changer for me and I should have listened earlier.

In doing all of these hair care tips I have noticed a big difference in my hair from being dry-greasey at the roots-split end filled-but nice for the day-hair to healthier, thicker low maintenace hair. I go through less shampoo and conditioner and the "blond" part of The Blond Champagne has improved.
