This season from the runway, to red carpets, to the streets braids seem to be everywhere. Whether you are sporting long beachy locks or a choppy bob, braids are the go to for any woman in need a refreshed summer look. Although not all the looks we found on the spring/summer runways are the most accessible for the everyday woman, it is easy to find inspiration in these striking hairstyles. The diversity of the braided look has been and will remain timeless throughout the years- especially for spring and summer.

In Rachel Zoe’s most recent collection we saw the most luxurious braids. With the perfect combination of loose and chunky creating a relaxed look, this style of French braid is perfect for a day at the beach or a night out with the girls. The key to this look is to keeps it messy and free.

For those days when it seems like there is no time for the perfect blowout, take a queue from the styles seen on Rebecca Monkoff’s runway. Pulling the hair away from the face, this look gives a carefree look while using the braid as a headband to control your mane. This whimsical look is perfect for both long and shirt hair.

My third and final favourite found on the runway this season was in the Nicole Miller collection. Retro infused, the chignon styled up-do looks both relaxed for a day out about town but clean enough that it is perfect for a day at work.

Some of the best braids seen this summer can be found on the red carpet. Diane Kruger sported a luxurious double braid to compliment her rule-breaking dress. Incorporating a traditional French braid (outer) along with a Dutch braid (and inverted French braid) make this one of the most unusually beautiful styles this season. Cara Delavigne brings edge to her braided do creating the half shaved look. This is perfect for those of us who want to keep up with the trends without committing to a shaved head.

Whichever style you choose make sure you get playful with it! Add volume! Add floral accessories, or jeweled embellishment. For more inspiration we suggest you look to Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, and all other social media- you’re bound to find something you love.
