Every year we hear of the importance of sun protection and the high risks we put ourselves by choosing not to protect ourselves. Skin cancer, premature aging are among the highest risks as well as the short term uncomfortable sunburns we may experience.
I'm on of those people who cannot ignore sun protection, I burn quickly and easily. My friends joke that I have two shades, snow white or lobster red.
On top of my pale complexion I have the treat of sensitive skin, causing many sunscreens to leave my skin irritated and uncomfortable. Whoever said life was easy right? I have compiled a list of some of the top sunscreens I swear by, not only for my skin predicament but also for how easily they fit into a beauty routine but how they even add to it!
Head to Toe:
Face
I cannot stress this enough. SUNSCREEN YOUR FACE E'RYDAY!!! For every drop of sunscreen you are putting on your face think of it as a savings on anti aging products. Beauty benefit, sunscreen tends to cost less. Previoulsy I was using the same sunscreen on my face as my body but this year I found a face sunscreen that has worked wonders. L'Oreal Sublime Sun Face Sunscreen SPF 50 is nothing short of amazing! The formula isn't dense but very liquid and easily absorbs into the skin, leaving not white streaks or oily residue. I have been wearing this daily and have been applying it before my daily makeup. Beauty bonus, it acts almost like a primer leaving my skin matte but moisturised and a great base for the light summer make up I wear in the warmer months. As well I reapply, as you should, throughout the day not even worrying about how it will make my face look.

Throughout the day application is essential but to make your reapplication easier Shisedo has created a fabulous new product, a compact powder that is intended for sunscreen protection. Beauty Benefit, when you need more they sell refills for the compact! No excuse
ladies!

Finally, want to keep your luscious pucker? Collagen, which keeps your lips plump, is broken down over time by the sun. Using a lip balm with sunscreen is a must and can be worn underneath the glosses and lipsticks you apply on top. I'm in love with Roc's lip suncreen. Keeps my lips hydrated with a smooth finish, perfect to apply all the fun summer colours over top.

Neck and Decollatage
What you do to your face do to your neck and decollatage! Think of those ancient Greek busts you see in museums, all of that are on your body is very vulnerable to sun exposure. Also it's the area most apt to show signs of premature aging. Don't invest all that time on your face and have it looking youthful while your kneck and decollatage are giving away all fo your secrets.
Body
I have two products that I love for my body, one is a longtime love and the other is new best friend. Ombrelle is my wall when it comes to sunprotection, my mother got it for me when I was young as it was the only sunscreen that did not irritate my skin. The texture is creamy and moisturizing, it smell great and does not leave an oily residue. I buy this in an SPF 60 and take no chances.

I also have a small travel size in my purse at all times in case I find myself on a patio- quick trip to the ladies room and no one is the wiser. This used to be the only sunscreen I could use but this year I found something new that offers me something different. L'Oreal Sublime Sun Dry Oil in SPF 30. I always thought oil meant tanning but this product offers as much protection as any other SPF 30 except that it leaves a nice glow to your skin after application. It comes in a spray as well which allows for quick application, only draw back is that I would allow a minute for dray time after application as it is an oil and can transfer to your clothing. The scent is devine though and as previoulsy mentioned leaves a summery glow.

After Sun Routine
The sun dries your skin out and this can leave you feeling exhausted after a day at the beach or a lunch on a patio. It's important to keep yourself hydrated to protect yourself against heat stroke during your time in the sun but it's vital to help your skin out after it's out of the rays. MOISTURIZE!!! Once you're out of the sun help your skin out and mositurize, if you're burnt look for something with cooling properties such as aloe. Mositurizing after will add to your glow and give your skin a healthy radiance. This is a great time to look for a moisturizer with a hint of sunless tanner.
Enjoy this season and all it has to offer! There's a reason why it's called fun in sun but it's important to be safe now so you don't pay for it later.
